Atlanta is Georgia's key metropolitan area and a city that has become emblematic of the USA's New South. About half of all the jobs in Georgia are in the Atlanta area. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is the world's busiest in terms of passenger traffic.
Travel and tourism: As the so-called capital of the South, Atlanta continues to attract visitors like southbound retired Yankees. It has two new glitzy attractions the Georgia Aquarium and the new World of Coca-Cola plus Mei Lan, a giant panda at the Atlanta Zoo. In addition, there are a constellation of superlative restaurants, two luxury megamalls, ample Civil War sites and museums, and miles of hiking trails.
