Baltimore is Maryland's largest city and economic hub, and is known for its beautiful harbor, unique museums and the world-renowned Johns Hopkins Hospital. Francis Scott Key recounted the bombardment of Baltimore’s harbor in the War of 1812 by writing "The Star-Spangled Banner." Baltimore has been dubbed "a city of neighborhoods," but is more commonly known as "Charm City." Population: 620,961 residents as of the 2010 census.

Transportation:The Charm City Circulator is downtown Baltimore's new shuttle bus system, and it prides itself on being Fast, Frequent and Free. Retirement travel to anywhere in the world is easy from Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport. And Baltimore is in close proximity to Washington Dulles International Airport and Ronald Reagan Washington National in Northern Virginia.

Travel and tourism: Baltimore’s recent urban renewal efforts rank among the most ambitious in the United States, with special attention given to the city's greatest asset - the harbor. Baltimore’s waterfront is surrounded with shops, restaurants and attractions like Harborplace, the Maryland Science Center and National Aquarium.
