The City of Brooklyn was independent until it was consolidated with New York City in 1898. However, it continues to maintain a distinct culture, independent art scene, and unique architectural heritage. Notable about Brooklyn is its many neighborhoods where particular ethnic groups and cultures predominate. Population: Brooklyn is the most populous of New York City's five boroughs, with nearly 2.6 million residents.

Transportation:As you would expect, Brooklyn is well served by public transit including eighteen New York City Subway lines, a public bus network which covers the entire borough, and of course New York's famous yellow cabs.
