Charleston South Carolina


Charleston had its beginnings in 1670, and has become known as The Holy City due to the numerous steeples which dot the city's skyline. It was also one of the few cities in the original thirteen colonies to provide religious tolerance. Today the city has invested in a number of municipal improvements and a commitment to historic preservation. Population: With 120,083 residents, Charleston is the second most populous city in South Carolina.

Transportation:Charleston International Airport was pleased to welcome Southwest Airlines http://www.southwest.com/ in March of 2011 which gave it greatly expanded service to the region. A very cool way to get from Point A to Point B is the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge http://www.ravenelbridge.net across the Cooper River which is the longest cable-stayed bridge in the U.S. It has eight lanes and a 12-foot pedestrian and bicycle lane.
