Fort Lauderdale is situated on the southeast coast of Florida, centrally located between Miami and Palm Beach. Fort Lauderdales nickname as the "Venice of America" is earned by its many scenic inland waterways, as well as proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and New River. Population: As of the 2010 census, Ft. Lauderdale had a population of 165,521. It is part of the South Florida metropolitan area which has nearly 5.5 million people.

The Riverwalk area is the center for arts, science, cultural and history.
