Jackson Mississippi

Jackson is Mississippi’s capital and most populous city. Named after Andrew Jackson, it is called the City with Soul, and prides itself on its friendly people and Southern charm. Foodies will enjoy “down home” southern cooking, gourmet Southern Fusion, plus a variety of international favorites. The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum is located here, named among the Top 10 “Most Amazing Baseball Museums in America” by ESPN. Population: As of 2011, Jackson's population is 172,852 people.

Transportation:Jackson-Evers International has non-stop service to 12 U.S. cities. Amtrak offers service to New Orleans, and Jackson Transit System operates local buses.

Travel and tourism: History buffs will enjoy checking out some of Jackson’s museums. One must-see attraction is the Mississippi Museum of Art, and completely different in its feel and scope is the Agriculture & Forestry Museum. The Eudora Welty house is an interesting tour; it is preserved to look as it did in the 1980s.
