Kauai is the oldest and northernmost island in the Hawaiian chain, and is sometimes called the “Garden Isle” for its emerald valleys, tropical rainforests, forking rivers and cascading waterfalls. Lihue, where the island’s airport is located, has become the government and commercial center of the island as well as an important cultural and historical area.
