Their snappy rhyming motto, "Water Wealth Contentment Health", is proudly displayed on a beautiful old arch which welcomes visitors to the down town area. Day trip options from Modesto include San Francisco, Sacramento, and Yosemite National Park among many others. Outdoor activities are enjoyable year round in this mild climate. Due to its location in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley, retirees can “taste Modesto” at the Farmers Market and the many fresh produce stands in the area.
