Pocatello Idaho
Pocatello is famous for its hospitality, and is known as the U.S. Smile Capital. "Gate City" was originally settled by pioneers, gold miners and settlers who traveled the Oregon Trail, and has become a trade center and transportation junction today. A river runs through it, the Portneuf, which joins the Snake River at American Falls reservoir just north of the city. Population: The population of Pocatello was 54,255 as of the 2010 census.
Climate: Winters are moderately long and cold, and summers are hot and dry. The area receives only 12 inches of rain per year, and snowfall of 50 inches.

Transportation:Known as the Gateway to the Northwest, Pocatello still carries on this tradition with excellent air, rail, and ground transportation at the intersection of I-15 & I-86. Skywest and Horizon airlines provide several daily flights to other major cities out of Pocatello Regional Airport.
Travel and tourism: Some of the many activities in Pocatello include visiting the Pocatello Zoo, touring the Idaho Museum of Natural History, swimming at the Ross Park Aquatic Complex, playing golf at one of two municipal golf courses or relaxing in one of the many parks around town. Throughout the year there are numerous special events, such as the Wrangler Western Frontier Pro Rodeo, the Pocatello Marathon, concerts by the Idaho State Civic Symphony, and a host of performances at the L.E. and Thelma Stephens Performing Arts Center.
