Founded in 1849, the City of Sacramento is the oldest incorporated city in California and the state’s capital. On the river’s edge, the original city, Old Sacramento, is reminiscent of simpler times of river boats and wooden sidewalks. Population: As of the 2010 census, Sacto had 466,488 residents.
