St. Petersburg has long been a popular retirement destination, with a purported average of 360 days of sunshine each year. The city is often referred to by locals as St. Pete, and its citizens as “Good Burgers”. This picturesque city is located on a peninsula and is connected to the city of Tampa to the east by causeways and bridges across Tampa Bay, and to Bradenton in the south by the Sunshine Skyway Bridge which crosses the mouth of the bay. Population: St. Petersburg is the second largest city in the Tampa Bay Area, which is composed of roughly 2.7 million residents. The city itself has around 245,314 making it the fourth largest city in the state.

Climate: St. Pete has a rainy season from June through September and is occasionally affected by tropical storms and hurricanes. It receives 53 inches of rain per year.

Travel and tourism: St. Petersburg is known for its warm weather and breezes that blow off Tampa Bay. In addition to its beautiful beaches, the city attracts visitors with the Salvador Dali Museum, Fort De Soto Park and the St. Petersburg Pier. Wooden boardwalks wind through Sawgrass Lake Park where retirees will enjoy a stroll.
