Terre Haute is situated in west-central Indiana on the banks of the Wabash River. “Terre Haute” is taken from a French phrase that means "High Ground". Terre Haute is a business hub for a seven county region, including several in Illinois, and calls itself the capital of the Wabash Valley. Population: As of the 2010 census, the city’s population was 60,785 with a metropolitan area population of 170,943.
