From the Idaho
Panhandle to the open range near Boise, Idaho is a land of
mountains, lakes, and even a substantial high tech sector which
is growing in the Boise area.
Hells Canyon separates Idaho and Oregon and is the deepest gorge
in North America - some 7,900 feet from the rim to the River far
below. Hells Canyon National Recreation Area has become popular
with rafters and fisherman.
Craters of the Moon National Monument is a recent volcanic
feature created from two to fifteen thousand years ago. A single
paved road connects lava tubes, lava bombs, lava flows, and
more.
Idaho's ski resort at Sun Valley attracts tens of thousands
every winter and is one of the oldest resorts in the west. Sun
Valley
opened in 1936 and still has some of the best skiiing anywhere.
With only about a million people, Idaho is sparesly populated
except in the Boise area and even there the lifestyle is
comfortably relaxed for the approximately 125,000 Boise
residents. Boise's economy use to be primarily agricultural
but now semiconductors, computer hardware, and electronics are
key Idaho industries based in Boise.
