Kentucky Retirement Map

Kentucky retirement can offer both rural environments as well as the faster pace of larger cities.  Kentuck is nicknamed "The Bluegrass State" for the pastureland that is prevalent in the north central region also known as the "Bluegrass Region".  Here you'll find two of Kentucky's major cities, Louisville and Lexington.  The area is renowned for horse farms as well as Kentucky's signature sporting event, the Kentucky Derby horserace.   The Kentucky Derby takes place on the first Saturday in May in Louisville at the Churchill Downs racetrack.

Bluegrass music lovers will find plenty to lover here as well.  Bill Monroe is considered by many to be the father of Bluegrass music.  Monroe, a Kentucky native, named his group the "Bluegrass Boys" in honor of his home state.    In Kentucky you'll also find Bardstown, the "Bourbon Capital of the World" along with Bardstown's Kentucky Bourbon Festival and the Oscar Getz Museum of Whiskey History.

Chevrolet Corvettes are built in Bowling Green, Kentucky, also the location of the National Corvette Museum.

Kentucky retirees can also enjoy natural wonders.  Mammoth Cave is the longest recorded cave system in the world.  Here, 336 miles of labyrinth have been explored and the National Park offers tours and interpretive exhibits for all.  The Daniel Boone National Forest includes about 50 natural arches.  The Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area is approximately 90 miles of beautiful scenery along the gorge.  On this river recreation area you'll find canoeing, kayaking, rafting, camping, hiking, and horseback riding.
