Shreveport - Baton Rouge - New Orleans
Louisiana is named
after King Louis XIV of France and Louisiana was bought by
Thomas Jefferson from Napoleon I. Originally settled by French
colonists, the largest city, New Orleans, is named after the
city of Orleans, France.
The most popular area in the state for tourism is New Orleans,
with the charming restaurants of the French Quarter and the
bawdy raucous Bourbon Street, both have been revitalized for
tourism after Hurricane Katrina closed the entire city.
The current boom in construction following the tragic
destruction of Hurricane Katrina makes Lousiana a state to
consider for values in housing and a potentially high quality,
low cost retirement..
